Before we get into the backstory of London-based trio Solregn, let’s first appreciate their debut single ‘One’. It’s a glorious concoction of gospel synth keys, cracking electronic beats and caressing, magnetised vocals. You could say that ‘One’ is that sweet spot between HONNE and Jamie xx, and it’s interesting that we chose artists with extensive backgrounds in songwriting, composition and musicianship, because that’s also what we have with Solregn. Making up the new electronic-R&B outfit is an opera singer, a classical pianist and a jazz/pop producer who bring each of their various talents and eclectic tastes to the table, resulting in this highly sophisticated, yet not try-hard, sound. As Solregn tell us, "We've been friends for years, and this was our first track we ever made together and it just worked. It happened in about three hours." Around this time, the trio were consistently creating and completed their EP in about two weeks, one that we can’t wait to hear more of. - HT
